He has held visiting academic appointments at Yale University and New York University and has been a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. Noted poets Carter Revard and Edward Weismiller will read their poems at the Library of Congress at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Montpelier Room on the sixth floor of the James Madison Building, 101 Independence Ave. S.E., Washington, D.C. The program, presented under the auspices of the Gertrude Clarke Whittall Poetry and Literature Fund, is free and open to the public; no tickets or reservations are required. Revard is professor emeritus of English at Washington University in St. Louis. His latest collection of poetry is “How the Songs Come Down” (Salt Publishing, 2005).
