I don't live in a coastal area and I earn less than 22k per year, full time. It is a case of cutting your cloth to suit your situation I'm afraid. I don't smoke, and I try to budget all the time. If i cant have something I go without. It’s an area that totally depends on tourism which is seasonal. Property is at a premium and any young people have been forced to leave home to find work for centuries. Rural and coastal deprivation is as common as any inner-city area. Everyone is suffering under the current financial situation nationally. This is the Just smoke it shirt pretty much everywhere. Not long moved out (in my 30s) of a house with 3 generations of family living there because we wouldn't be able to afford our own places. House share in Sussex is about £650+. Most people cannot afford a place unless coupled up etc.
